Bio

Jim is 52 years old and has resided in Ottawa County for 47 years.  He is a graduate of Port Clinton High School (1972) and The Ohio State University (1978 - Agricultural Education and Agricultural Economics).

FAMILY - Married 26 years to Molly, who teaches kindergarten in the Port Clinton Schools.  Father of two children: Scott, 24, who is a graduate engineer with GE, and Laura, 21, who is a student at the University of Findlay.

CAREER  - Vocational Agriculture teacher at Perkins Local Schools 1978-1980.  Agronomist for Robinson Hybrids Seed Corn Co. 1980-1983.  Wildlife Area Coordinator at Magee Marsh, Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Division of Wildlife 1984-2005 (Retired).  Third generation to operate the family grain and beef farm.

GOVERNMENT and CIVIC INVOLVEMENT - Portage Township Trustee 1999-Present (Chairman for 5 years - Third generation in family to serve as Portage Township Trustee).  President of Ottawa County Township Association.  President of Ottawa County Regional Planning Commission (2006).  Vice Chair of TMACOG Environmental Council.  Member of TMACOG Executive Committee.

MEMBERSHIPS and AFFILIATIONS - Life member of OSU Alumni Association.  Ottawa County OSU Alumni Association.  Ottawa County Farmers' Union.  Ottawa County Farm Bureau.  Port Clinton Kiwanis.  St. John Lutheran Church (Port Clinton).  Ducks Unlimited.  Ottawa County Democratic Club.  Recognized as member of "First Families of Ottawa County"
